I'm sick of making brownies, cookies, and cakes. I want something fruity and filling. Something that children will eat.
Answer
Strawberry Pie
INGREDIENTS
1 (9 inch) pie crust, baked
1 quart fresh strawberries
1 cup white sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
DIRECTIONS
Arrange half of strawberries in baked pastry shell. Mash remaining berries and combine with sugar in a medium saucepan. Place saucepan over medium heat and bring to a boil, stirring frequently.
In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water. Gradually stir cornstarch mixture into boiling strawberry mixture. Reduce heat and simmer mixture until thickened, about 10 minutes, stirring constantly. Pour mixture over berries in pastry shell. Chill for several hours before serving. In a small bowl, whip cream until soft peaks form. Serve each slice of pie with a dollop of whipped cream.

Anyone know of any healthy desserts?
Eri
I want ideas for desserts that are fresh-fruit based, that use little to no bleached or otherwise processed flour. Something simple (the simpler the healthier, usually) but still delicious. I would prefer it be from scratch, too, not something where I buy little cakes and dump stawberries all over them or whatever.
You don't have to give me the exact recipe, just give me the name of it and maybe even where I might find it on the web.
Answer
Berry-Good Mousse
1 envelope unflavoured gelatin
1/4 cup orange juice
3 cups fresh strawberries
1/4 cup icing sugar
1/3 cup whipping cream (optional)
4 egg whites
1/4 cup granulated sugar
Garnish:
Fresh strawberries, hulled
In saucepan, sprinkle gelatin over orange juice. Let stand 5 minutes to soften. Warm over low heat until gelatin has dissolved.
Meanwhile, hull strawberries and place in food processor or blender. Add icing sugar and process just until pureed.
Transfer to mixing bowl and stir in gelatin mixture. Refrigerate until mixture is consistency of raw egg whites. Whip cream (if using) and set aside.
In large bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Whisk about ¼ of beaten egg whites into strawberry mixture.
Fold strawberry mixture and whipped cream into remaining beaten egg whites.
Pour into 6-cup glass serving bowl or individual glasses and refrigerate at least 4 hours or up to days.
Garnish with fresh strawberries.

I want to make something other than just a basic cake, cookies or brownies. I also want it to be something with lots of flavor but health enough for anyone and everyone to enjoy. Any ideas for recipes would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Answer
My parents started buying healthier cakes and requesting them for their bdays...so we get these Fruit tart-"cakes" that United Supermaket makes. They're REALLY good and healthy.

There are also strawberry or jelly rolls.

Are you turned off by healthy desserts?
totalgi
Desserts made with beans, apple sauce and stuff like that. Does it seam gross to you? or would you do anything and try anything for health? After all health is wealth.
Answer
No I wouldn't be turned off it was healthy, but I would be if it tasted bad. I once made a 100 calorie brownie with banana and it happened to be really good.
Here's the recipe:
1tbsp flour
1tbsp sugar
1tbsp Cocoa, Dry Powder, Unsweetened
2tbsp apple sauce (or smashed banana, or canned pumpkin puree)
1pinch of salt and baking powder
mix and put into a microwave or oven safe bowl (a small one like custard cup or a paper cupcake liner works too) microwave for 30 seconds-minute! Since there are no eggs, the center can still be under cooked if you prefer a lava cake! since this is only 96 calories, add a drizzle of peanut butter, a small scoop of low cal ice cream, cool whip or non dairy whip, get creative!
